The Adaptive Programs Supervisor brings this to life by leading an Adaptive Climbing Program that ignites, inspires, and supports climbers of all abilities.
The How:
As the Adaptive Programs Supervisor, you are passionate about supporting and inspiring others, especially in service of the non-traditional climbing community. You are an experienced climber who is motivated to introduce others to the sport and lifestyle and does so through strategic community. You support in pushing the boundaries of climbing and creating inclusive programming that positions Mesa Rim as a leader in the climbing industry.
The What:
Operational Excellence: The Adaptive Programs Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of assigned adaptive programs at designated Mesa Rim site; The Adaptive Programs Supervisor leads in accordance with operational standards and ensures operations of all assigned programs run smoothly and meet established goals.
- Develop and lead implementation of programs and event offerings with a focus on inclusion, education, safety, innovation, and inspiring lifelong climbers. Programing includes but is not limited to:
- MesaRim/ParaCliffHangers meetups
- Weekly youth Adaptive Recreational Teams
- Adaptive private instruction program
- Parkinson’s climbing program
- Partner events and meet-up groups
- Adaptive seasonal camps
- Serve as community point of contact for all adaptive program-related inquiries (offerings, schedules, events, pricing, etc.), troubleshooting issues, maintaining adequate staffing, and completing all administrative tasks (payments, tips, etc.); update/revise any operational practices or procedures as necessary
- Create staffing ratios and collaborate on pricing structures for adaptive events and programs
- Point of contact for Financial Management Services and the San Diego Regional Center to secure individual funding for programs Oversee program operations, working with supervisor to execute annual and quarterly strategies to ensure programs are aligned with company goals and committed to continuous improvement
- Collaborate with leadership team to create an inclusive experience for adaptive climbers (route setting, fitness, front desk, etc)
- Attend external events, representing Mesa Rim and building professional relationships as needed
- In collaboration with the Marketing Department, create content for communication across media platforms including newsletter, social media, and in gym signage
- Create curriculum and lead staff training for adaptive climbing events
- Regularly monitor and report on assigned metrics including participation, labor and engagement
- Possess advanced and detailed knowledge of all Mesa Rim offerings (climbing, yoga, fitness, Pro Shop knowledge, setting, youth programs, etc.) and share this knowledge with community
Leadership Excellence: The Adaptive Programs Supervisor is responsible for communicating the Team Mesa Rim vision and guiding, inspiring, and motivating the efforts of their team in support of that shared vision.
- Manage and develop direct reports through all stages of Employee Lifecycle (recruiting and onboarding/training, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, off-boarding, etc.), following established protocols and adhering to Core Values
- Approve direct reports’ timecards, holding team accountable to established timekeeping and payroll protocols
- Manage scheduling of direct reports through UKG software
- Oversee private instructors using Acuity software, ensuring adequate availability among instructor pool
- Foster team camaraderie and cultivate culture of direct communication
- Dedicate approximately 20% of work time to instruction presence and 80% to administrative functions; maintain on-site presence during events with extenuating circumstances
- Make critical decisions when necessary for the well-being of customers, staff, and the facility, in such areas as safety and emergencies, money handling, and customer experience
- Set examples of professional behavior and excellent customer service at all times
- Serve as a Mesa Rim cultural example, consistently demonstrating and holding others accountable to Mesa Rim Core Values

Hours vary and minimums may be required according to the needs of business operations at each location
Must-Haves:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must contribute to Mesa Rim Climbing Center culture
- Must have ability to seek and accept, as well as give, critical feedback in a professional manner
- Must demonstrate a positive attitude and be a team player
- Must have a drive to grow professionally
- Must have at least 5 years climbing experience, including proficiency in indoor and outdoor climbing
- Must have at least two years adaptive coaching experience or equivalent
- Must have experience in technical rigging including pulley systems and alternative harnessing
- Must have at least two years of experience developing climbing programming and experience successfully engaging adult and youth climbing communities
- Must adhere to the Coach/Athlete Code of Conduct at all times
- Must demonstrate excellent organizational, documentation and written communication skills
- Must be able to manage and prioritize administrative tasks
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service and logistical skills
- Must enjoy working with youth and adults
- Must demonstrate an inclusive coaching philosophy that fosters community, builds confidence, and nurtures individual development on and off the walls
- Must be able to communicate in a professional manner with participants, parents, and members of the public on behalf of Mesa Rim
- Must be able to work in an organized and transparent manner
- Must be able to independently problem solve using sound judgment
- Must pass criminal and sex offender background check prior to start of work
Nice-to-Haves:
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification preferred
- Experience with ACI preferred
- Climbing certifications such as SPI or CWI

Pay Range: $25.50-$31.50
