The How:
As Site Manager, you are experienced and passionate about both leadership and the climbing community. You demonstrate site ownership and are the go-to person for all happenings within the site. You understand that the site is only as strong as its team and you are exceptional at building relationships with the team as well as with the community. You are approachable, assertive, decisive, composed, self-motivated, and a successful leader and supervisor. You demonstrate communication and professionalism standards and hold these high standards for the team.
The What:
Operational Excellence: The Site Manager is responsible for the quality and management of all operations at assigned Mesa Rim site(s).
- Manage the implementation of the strategic plan at the site level, including areas of operations, finances, culture and innovation
- Respond to gym emergencies, taking the appropriate course of action and auditing the emergency situation to improve future risk-management techniques
- Ensure the functional optimization of the physical building in a cost-effective manner; oversee facilities projects
- Ensure systems and processes for a sustaining high quality customer experience are maintained at all times
- Manage effective connection between front and back-end operations; manage and improve operational systems and processes, information flow and communication, and organizational planning
- In collaboration with the Community Engagement + Marketing Department:
- Strategize and prioritize marketing and communication efforts at the site-level with necessary stakeholders and implement/manage campaigns that attract new users, increase retention and conversion of members/guests, promote sales/specials, and increase program participation
- Serve as the end point of accountability for marketing/promotion of all offerings at the site-level and for ensuring all marketing materials are on-brand, accurate in detail, and representative of Mesa Rim core values and the site-specific community
- Manage online/website review and update request process to maintain accuracy of information and authentic representation of site offerings
- Monitor marketing efforts at the site-level and suggest improvements
- In collaboration with the Culture and People Team:
- Implement tools and initiatives to address team engagement and well-being, monitoring results, and suggesting improvements.
- Manage and resolve employee relations issues, including assisting with thorough, effective objective investigations and documentation
- In collaboration with the CFO and Director of Operations:
- Oversee site-specific financial management including planning, systems, controls, and cash systems
- Ensure timely review, coding and submission of site’s Accounts Payable
- Manage monthly billing in RGP and oversee regular membership audits
- Develop and oversee annual facility budget that will maintain high standards for the facility cleanliness and functionality
- Develop and oversee annual staffing plan to ensure service excellence while keeping an eye on the site’s financial health
- Provide feedback on quarterly forecasts, monitor spending against budgets and provide suggestions on areas to increase investment and areas to improve profit margins
Leadership Excellence: The Site Manager is responsible for leading the continued development of Mesa Rim’s customer-service vision and guiding, inspiring, and motivating the efforts of their team in support of that shared vision.
- Maintain connectedness with internal and external community, inquiring about the Mesa Rim experience, noticing trends, and recommending improvements to the Site Leadership Team and Strategic Team
- Serve as a representative of the facility and company; maintain on-site presence at designated site for a minimum of 90% of work-time; manage significant inquiries from the community, Team Members, and the media as needed
- Collaborate with other Site Managers as a team to provide a consistent experience for customers and staff across all sites
- Enforce high level of accountability among direct reports and team members
- Exercise extensive familiarity with multi-site departments, coordinating with department leaders to ensure assigned site has all necessary resources
- Manage and develop direct reports through all stages of Employee Lifecycle (recruiting and onboarding/training, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, off-boarding, etc.), following established protocols and core values.
- Lead onboardings for all new hires at their location, providing an exceptional introduction to Mesa Rim’s culture and ensuring all new hire paperwork is completed
- Ensure all timecards across the site are completed, adhering and holding the team accountable to established timekeeping and payroll protocols.
- Support direct reports in the management of their departments and development of their teams, especially providing leadership on budget and employee lifecycle management; proactively address personnel concerns as needed
- Set example of professional behavior and excellent customer service at all times, consistently demonstrating Mesa Rim core values and providing mentorship to staff
Must-Haves:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must passionate about building great teams and great cultures
- Must have an extremely high EQ with a natural ability to communicate clearly, build relationships and collaborate cross-functionally and cross-culturally
- Must have High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must contribute to Mesa Rim Climbing Center culture
- Must regularly climb indoors and demonstrate a passion for rock climbing with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Must have ability to seek and accept, as well as give, critical feedback in a professional manner
- Must demonstrate a positive attitude and be a team player
- Must have a drive to grow professionally
- Must have previous financial decision-making and budget-management experience
- Must have at least three years supervisory experience in a customer service setting
- Must be able to creatively problem solve without direct supervision
- Must be able to make decisions independently and understand the impact and scope of decisions
- Must regularly demonstrate a high degree of initiative and follow-through
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Must be highly organized and detail oriented
- Must have professional demeanor
Nice-to-Haves:
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification strongly preferred
- Experience with Google Docs
